Tech Wars

Models from the Seismic Design Competition at the 2011 Tech Wars.

Teams in the Seismic Design Competition participating in Tech Wars are tasked with designing models that are at least 60'' in height.

Tech Wars is an annual student competition presented by the Western New York Technology Education Association (WNYTEA), which engages middle and high school students from Erie and Niagara Counties in technology-based events, such as computer-aided drafting, electronics, mechanics, robotics and other creative engineering-based technologies.

The Seismic Design Competition is a collaborative effort between MCEER's Information Service, UB's Department of Civil, Structural & Environmental Engineer / Graduate Student Association (CSEE/GSA), UB's Structural Engineering and Earthquake Simulation Laboratory (SEESL), and the Technology Education teacher Tom Mallon from the Barker Central School District. The contest is modeled on the annual EERI Undergraduate Seismic Design Competition. CSEE graduate students help coordinate the annual event.
