Interactive Web-Based Instruction and Presentations

interface of virtual web programThe Smart Structures Technology Laboratory (SSTL) at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign provides an interactive framework for students and practitioners to gain fundamental understanding of a wide range of topics in earthquake engineering.  Four java-powered virtual experiments are currently available:

  1. Structural Control using TMDs and AMDs
  2. Linear Base Isolation
  3. Nonlinear Base Isolation
  4. Nonlinear Two StoryBuilding

To access these virtual experiments, go to the  Smart Structures Technology Laboratory, click on the "Education" button, and then select Java-Powered Simulators for Structural Vibration and Control. The SSTL was previously the Structural Dynamics and Control/Earthquake Engineering Laboratory at the University of Notre Dame. Funding for the java-powered virtual experiments is provided by MCEER.
