Background

Earthquake Engineering and Engineering Vibration was established in 2002 by the Institute of Engineering Mechanics (IEM), China Earthquake Administration, in cooperation with the Multidisciplinary Center for Earthquake Engineering Research (MCEER), University at Buffalo, State University of New York, to promote scientific exchange between Chinese and international scientists and engineers to improve the theory and practice of earthquake hazards mitigation, preparedness and recovery.

To accomplish this purpose, the journal aims to attract a balanced number of papers between Chinese and international authors by publishing original papers and invited papers that address state-of-the-art knowledge and practice that have overlapping interest between China and other countries related to earthquake engineering. The journal has a special interest in encouraging joint authorship between Chinese and foreign contributors such as those resulting from the PRC-US cooperative research projects.
