Base Isolated Structure Testing on University at Buffalo Shake Table

A demonstration test was conducted on a 6-story, 240 kN seismically isolated model on one of the two new seismic simulators in the NEES Laboratory on December 3, 2004 . The laboratory's unique tele-observation and tele-participation capabilities, including a four camera set-up, with one camera providing live explanations by a student involved in developing the testing program, were used to webcast the test as it occured. The isolation system featured in the test was a double concave friction pendulum system. Visit http://nees.buffalo.edu for more information.
