2007

Tarek Abdoun, Associate Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Associate Director, NEES-NSF Geotechnical Centrifuge Research Center at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute

was the 2008 recipient of the prestigious Shamsher Prakash Research Award for Excellence in the Practice of Geotechnical Engineering

Mehdi Ahmadizadeh, a graduate research assistant in the Department of Civil, Structural and Environmental Engineering at the University at Buffalo

won the top prize in EERI’s 2006 graduate student paper competition with his paper, “A Comparison Between Passive and Semi-Active Structural Control Systems Using Viscous Fluid Dampers”

Seda Dogruel, Ph.D. candidate, Department of Civil, Structural and Environmental Engineering (CSEE) at the University at Buffalo

won an honorable mention for her poster during the the first annual University at Buffalo Engineering Graduate Research Day and Open House

co-Authored a Book on Passive Energy Dissipation and Base Isolation Systems

George C. Lee, MCEER Special Tasks Director and Samuel P. Capen Professor of Engineering; former MCEER Director and Dean of the School of Engineering and Applied Science, University of Buffalo

Sissy Nikolaou, who received her master’s and Ph.D. degrees from the Civil, Structural and Environmental Engineering Department at the University at Buffalo, where she studied under MCEER investigator George Gazetas, and is currently an associate with Mueser Rutledge Consulting Engineers

was named one of “40 Under 40” by Building Design & Construction magazine.

Mark Pitman, of the Structural Engineering and Earthquake Simulation Laboratory (SEESL) at the University at Buffalo

was awarded the Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Professional Service from the State University of New York.

Michael Pollino, Ph.D. candidate, Department of Civil, Structural and Environmental Engineering (CSEE) at the University at Buffalo and President of the MCEER Student Leadership Council

received the CSEE Chair’s Recognition Award

Andrei Reinhorn, longtime MCEER investigator, Clifford C. Furnas Eminent Professor of Civil, Structural and Environmental Engineering at the University at Buffalo (UB) and Director of the Structural Engineering and Earthquake Simulation Laboratory (SEESL) at UB

was awarded the Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Scholarship and Creative Activities from the State University of New York

Christian Renschler, MCEER Remote Sensing Institute team member and Associate Professor of Geography at the University at Buffalo

received the 2007 Soil & Water Conservation Young Scholar Award from the Division of S06-Soil & Water Conservation of the Soil Science Society of America (SSSA)

Hongbo Wang, Ph.D. candidate, Department of Civil, Structural and Environmental Engineering (CSEE) at the University at Buffalo

received the University at Buffalo Engineering Graduate School Ambassador Award
