MCEER Honors, Awards and Recognitions

Honors, Awards and Recognitions showcase the achievements of individual MCEER team members, including investigators, partners, committee members and students, who have been recognized by their peers with various honors and awards. Where available, links to MCEER Bulletin articles or other information are provided.

2010

Pierre Fouché, graduate student in the Department of Civil, Structural and Environmental Engineering and MCEER investigator

• received the 2010 Chair’s Graduate Recognition Award for academic achievement and significant contribution to the department in recognition of his representation of the CSEE during the Haiti earthquake

Maria Koliou, graduate student in the Department of Civil, Structural and Environmental Engineering and MCEER investigator

• won the 2010 CSEE Graduate Student Poster Competition for her poster on “Seismic Protection of Electrical Transformer Bushing System by Stiffening Techniques”

Petros Sideris, graduate student in the Department of Civil, Structural and Environmental Engineering and MCEER investigator

• received the Paul J. Koessler Memorial Scholarship, which is awarded by the Peace Bridge Authority each year to a student in transportation/bridge engineering

Daniel Hess, associate professor of urban and regional planning in the School of Architecture and Planning at the University at Buffalo, and MCEER investigator

• received a Fulbright Scholar Award

Michel Bruneau, engineering professor and former director of MCEER

• received the Grand Prize, 2nd Place, Fiction in the 2010 Next Generation Indie Book Awards for his novel Shaken Allegiances
