Following a review of MCEER's Year 7 activities and plans for Years 7-10, NSF has approved continued funding for the Center through Year 10. A team of reviewers visited Buffalo on June 9-11, 2004, and heard in depth presentations on MCEER's research and education plans, accomplishments, and activities. The team was led by NSF Program Officer Dr. Joy Pauschke.
Many people participated in this year's site visit, including MCEER researchers, partners, students and staff. A highlight was a tour of the NEES facilities at the University at Buffalo, where participants viewed tests of Armstrong World Industries' suspended ceiling systems, presented by MCEER Industry Advisory Board (IAB) member Paul Hough. Twenty-one students presented posters, which were representative of the diversity, depth and scope of MCEER research projects.
