MCEER Develops Post-Earthquake Inspection for NYS Bridges
MCEER is developing post-earthquake bridge inspection procedures for the New York State Department of Transportation. Principal Investigator Jerome O’Connor, MCEER, University at Buffalo, is leading the research project, which will include an earthquake response plan, guidance on prioritizing post-earthquake bridge inspections, bridge inspection guidelines for inspectors with photos of damage from earthquakes in other regions, and a handbook for recommending immediate interim repairs to damaged bridges.
The work is being done cooperatively with Prof. Riyad Aboutaha, Syracuse University. Upon completion of the project, the material will be presented to bridge inspectors as part of a one day training class. For more information, contact .
