Several bridge engineers from the New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) and Abate Associates Engineers & Surveyors, P.C. visited MCEER for a tour of the Structural Engineering and Earthquake Simulation Laboratory (SEESL) on March 29, 2010. A highlight of the tour was the accelerated bridge construction experiment, which was being assembled on SEESL’s two shake tables (see related article).
George Christian, Jr., NYSDOT and Chair of the AASHTO Technical Committee on Bridge Security (T-1), was at the University at Buffalo to deliver a lecture on “Learning From Bridge Failures,” as part of MCEER’s Bridge Engineering Distinguished Speaker Series (see related article). Jerry O’Connor and Donald Goralski of MCEER hosted the visit.
