Third UniQ-UB/MCEER Earthquake Engineering Seminar
March 12-22, 2011 | Port-au-Prince, Haiti
From March 12-22, 2011, the Third UniQ-UB/MCEER Earthquake Engineering Seminar will be held in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. Spanning a 10 day period, this third installment of a series of earthquake engineering seminars will feature expanded, in-depth content on approximately 95% of the types of buildings that are being constructed in Haiti today.
Six separate seminars will be delivered without overlap, allowing participants the opportunity to attend all or a selected number of lectures. The Introductory seminar held in May and September of 2010 will be offered again, and is a prerequisite to all the advanced offerings. Engineers and architects who have not yet participated in the UniQ/UB-MCEER program can enroll in this seminar and then take any of the advanced seminars offered later in the week. Advanced topics are tailored to address specific Haitian building practices, including seismic design load calculations, seismic design of concrete buildings, confined masonry buildings and wood structures, and material properties for construction of earthquake-resisting reinforced concrete and masonry buildings.
