Abstract: This report presents 27 short papers concerned with various aspects of earthquake preparedness in the schools. Six of the papers treat either structural or nonstructural considerations for the school building. Three papers deal with the mounting of search and rescue operations in the aftermath of an earthquake. Four papers are devoted to the integration of earthquake education materials into the elementary school curriculum. The school disaster planning process is the focus of six additional papers. The report also offers papers on medical planning for earthquake disasters and a sample school emergency preparedness plan.
