On March 13-16, 2006 MCEER hosted the Fourth International Workshop on Seismic Design and Retrofit of Transportation Facilities. Held in San Francisco, California, the gathering followed previous workshops held jointly with professional engineers, researchers and educators from Taiwan, Japan and the U.S. Thirty five people participated in the event, which was sponsored by Federal Highway Administration.
