Objective and Approach:
The International Workshop on Mitigation of Seismic Effects on Transportation Structures
will be held in Taipei, Taiwan, on July 12 - 14, 1999. The host institution for the
workshop is the National Center for Research on Earthquake Engineering (NCREE) of Taiwan.
The workshop will provide an international forum for the discussion and exchange of
information about recent and future developments, and the promotion of international
cooperation and research, in the area of mitigation of seismic effects on transportation
structures and systems. Participating countries include Taiwan, the United States, Japan,
and Korea, and other Asia Pacific Economic Council (APEC) countries have also been
invited.
Funding provided by this task will cover transportation between the U.S. and Taipei for
the 10-member U.S. delegation. Lodging and per diem expenses for the U.S. delegation while
in Taiwan will be provided by the host institution.
