The 2004 Annual Meeting of the Asian Pacific Network of Centers for Earthquake Engineering Research (ANCER) will be held July 28-30, 2004 at the Sheraton Princess Kaiulani Hotel in Honolulu, Hawaii. The meeting is sponsored by ANCER, and is organized by MCEER, with partial funding from the National Science Foundation.

The theme of the meeting is “Networking of Young Earthquake Engineering Researchers and Professionals.” Member Centers are sending a delegation that includes young researchers/professionals (upper level undergraduates, graduate students, post docs and/or other professionals with less than 5 years work experience) together with senior members (directors, their designees and other researchers/professionals).

The meeting will begin with presentations by the Center directors to explain the activities underway at their respective Centers. This will be followed by the technical presentations, grouped into six theme areas:

• Geotechnical & Strong Ground Motion
• Seismic Analysis & Design
• Structural Response Control
• Performance-based Design & Multi-hazard Mitigation
• Structural Health Monitoring
• Experimental Studies

An ANCER board meeting will also be held during the conference to review the current state of ANCER and formulate a work plan and priority list for the upcoming year.
