The
US-PRC Collaboration on Earthquake Engineering Research enables selected US
researchers to visit host institutions in the People's Republic of China to
engage in cooperative research activities. Research topics include:
Sensing and monitoring systems for disaster prevention and decision support
Performance-based design, analysis and structural control of urban area infrastructures to resist earthquake hazard
"Smart" structure and multiple hazard resilient technologies
Advanced disaster response systems
Extending the program from its previous years of success, the 2005 program will continue to support individuals interested in pursuing joint research with colleagues in China. Interested applicants should send in their applications by February 28, 2005. A panel review process will begin on March 1, 2005 and an announcement of the award will be made on March 21. The funding is to sponsor the recipients for a short trip to China for up to 2 weeks. The travel should be made before December 31, 2005. Related application forms are provided below:

Current curriculum vitae;
Prospectus statement outlining proposed research topic, past related work and anticipated outcomes (4 pages or less), including the following information:
Topic and Proposed PI, Institution and information for communication
Objectives and Project Description (1-2 pages)
Other Investigators with their specialties and institutions if a team of researchers is involved
Expected results from collaboration and proposed period of joint research and schedule
The name, institution of your proposed collaborator in China, and his (her) expertise. If possible include evidence of his (her) willingness to cooperate.
Statement of qualifications relative to the specific protocol-defined research objectives;
Support requested for work proposed;
Availability of supplemental support (i.e., in-kind or other financial or institutional support);
Potential host-country collaborators; and
Anticipated host institution.
