This CSX railroad bridge runs parallel to US 90 and the old route connecting Biloxi with Ocean Springs, MS. It is a fairly new structure (~1980) composed of prestressed concrete I-beams and a reinforced concrete deck. It carries one line of tracks.
The bridge is intact structurally but the storm rendered it inoperable because it dislodged the railroad tracks and ties and caused them to fall off the top of the bridge to the North side. Apparently, by design, there is no mechanism to hold the tracks to the concrete structure.
Northeast abutment of Railroad Bridge looking north. The displaced tracks can be seen below the abutment.
