Status:
Closed. Operations personnel, located in Baton Rouge, are working to assess damage and recover system.
Condition:
Administrative office and customer service building experienced ground floor flooding. Approximately 100 buses and 20 rail cars parked in shed and yard. Buses appear to have been parked in 3- to 4-foot flood waters reaching to steering wheels.
Current Service:
Several bus routes offer limited service within curfew hours, and plans call for service to be restored to more routes as the city repopulates. Buses operate along the St. Charles streetcar route.
Challenges:
Transit managers are continuing to locate and communicate with staff and borrow transit vehicles from other cities to temporarily replace damaged equipment.
