Many casinos, which were originally stationed along the Mississippi shoreline, were carried inland by the storm surge. A few of the casinos made it across US 90 as shown in Figures 1 and 2. Impact between the barges and structures along the coast resulted in the partial collapse of at least one building and one parking structure. The casinos themselves were severely damaged on the exterior and interior. Figure 3 shows a close-up view through the third level opening in the casino shown in Figure 2.
