This one-story post office building in central Bay St Louis performed well structurally, but 4 to 6 ft of flooding due to storm surge caused extensive nonstructural damage. Plaster and other interior finishes were being gutted and the building treated for environmental remediation on 10 September, but it was expected that the post office would be operational by 12 September.
Figure 1 shows the facility. Figure 2 shows the environmental team working on remediation of flooding damage. There was limited window breakage, as shown in Figure 3; most of the damage was from storm surge.
Figure 2: Environmental treatment began on 10 Sep 2005, and the post office will be at least partially operational by 12 Sep 2005.
