NSF News Features Hospital Room Shake Table Demonstration at UB

The National Science Foundation web page News from the Field features the hospital room shake table demonstration conducted at UB in October. During its inaugural test, conducted in front of an audience and webcast live, the world's first nonstructural components simulator performed exactly as designed, providing engineers with a new tool for evaluating how earthquakes damage building equipment, contents and components.

Renschler Receives NOAA CSC Award to Develop Community Resilience Index

Chris Renschler, Associate Professor in the UB Department of Geography, has received a $270,000 award from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Coastal Services Center (CSC) to develop and implement an integrated Community Resilience Index (CRI) for communities in the U.S. portion of the Gulf of Mexico. more
