From the Editors

The Journal of Earthquake Engineering and Engineering Vibration is a new English language journal published by the Institute of Engineering Mechanics (IEM) of the China Seismological Bureau, in Harbin, China, in collaboration with the Multidisciplinary Center for Earthquake Engineering Research (MCEER), University at Buffalo, State University of New York, United States. The primary objective of this journal is to promote scientific exchange between Chinese and international scientists by introducing pertinent results of research and practice in China to the international earthquake engineering community; and informing researchers and practitioners in China about recent international developments in earthquake engineering and engineering vibration.

To accomplish this objective, the journal aims to attract a balanced number of papers between Chinese and international authors. It will include both peer-reviewed and invited papers, which address state-of-the-art knowledge and practice with overlapping interest between China and the international community. The journal will be issued twice a year, in both paper and electronic forms, with appendices in electronic form only.

We sincerely welcome potential authors to join us in this new forum of technical information exchange in earthquake engineering and engineering vibration. It is our hope to improve the practice of earthquake hazards mitigation, preparedness and recovery throughout the world, to achieve our goal of developing earthquake resilient communities.
