From the Editors: special issue announcement

The world community was shocked and deeply saddened by the 512 disaster and massive losses in Sichuan caused by the Wenchuan earthquake. To commemorate the first anniversary of this disaster, the June 2009 issue (Vol. 8, No. 2) of Earthquake Engineering and Engineering Vibration will be devoted to the observations and lessons learned following the earthquake. The guest-editors are Professor LU Xilin, Tongji University, and Professor YUAN Yifan, Institute of Engineering Mechanics, China Earthquake Administration. We invite you to contribute to this special issue by submitting a manuscript to either our Harbin or Buffalo office by March 20, 2009, with an indication "For 2009 Special Issue."

The journal of Earthquake Engineering and Engineering Vibration will do its best to fulfill its role to facilitate the establishment of earthquake resilient communities throughout the world by rapidly transmitting your technical contributions to the earthquake engineering research and professional community. It is our hope that this special issue will facilitate professional and research pursuits to our readers.
